This is the original from Kodiak Island, Alaska. I collected it back in the 80s — it was the first time I ever saw real darkening and purpling in cannabis, and one of the very first serious grows I did up there.
It’s some strong, long-lasting herb and proven medicine for a lot of conditions like hepatitis C and HIV. Even though it’s 40% sativa, it still finishes very early outdoors. KG makes sparkly golden to lavender colored rock-hard buds that are rich in fragrance — pungent berry, grape, grassy and hashy notes. It’s hands-down my most mold-resistant strain.
The lavender pheno is a top-quality purple — honestly the best I’ve ever grown or smoked. The Charles Kush IBL got its purples directly from the Kodiak Gold lavender male I used in the line.
She’s bullet-proof. I’ve run her through the worst seasons on Vancouver Island (temperate rainforest) and she still performs. If you’re in New England or anywhere with tough, damp autumns, you’ll be good to go.
There are only two phenos — the Gold and the Lavender. They taste the same despite the color difference. These are F-16 seeds. After F-12 we started seeing solid purples with purple pistols show up, and the quality was so good we locked the trait in.
Great outdoor strain, long-lasting rich high, and extremely reliable.
