Royal Hawaiian is one of my old favorites, dating back over 20 years. It was originally an F1 cross between Hawaiian Indica from Sensi Seeds and Federation Seeds Hawaiian Sativa.
Royal Hawaiian 2.0 came from an amazingly lucky germination of original Royal Hawaiian seeds that had been sitting in my mother-in-law’s freezer since 2005. Out of 11 seeds that popped, I kept a beautiful sativa-leaning mother that just gleams with thick trichomes and inherited those classic spear-shaped buds from the Federation Hawaiian Sativa. She also carries that nice earthy-sweet flavor from the Hawaiian Indica side.
I crossed her with a genuine clone-only Maui Wowie I got from Southern California. The result is a 75% sativa-leaning strain that preserves three wonderful Hawaiian legacy strains from the 70s all in one plant.
Maui Wowie can be a stretchy, testy girl to grow, but she’s worth it for that tropical mango-pineapple flavor and her outstanding, unique high. The Hawaiian Indica helped reduce the stretch and brought the flowering time down to a much more manageable 65–68 days, while adding an earthy depth to the bright fruit-forward profile.
If you’ve always wanted a real taste of that classic 70s Hawaiian cannabis, Royal Hawaiian 2.0 is the place to begin.
